"Roy" Movie Review

"Roy"  is  an  romantic thriller film, directed  by  debutant  Vikramjit  Singh  and  produced  by  Bhushan  Kumar.The  movie  stars  Ranbir  Kapoor,Arjun  Rampal  and  Jacqueline  Fernandez  in  the  lead.

STORY:

The  story  is  a  thriller (Yep  you  would  be  thrilled  if  you  understood  the  story).The  story  really  does  not  make  much  sense.The  movie  is  about  a  film  maker  Kabir  Grewal(Arjun  Rampal)  who  makes  multiple  films  (named  GUNS)  based  on  a  thief's (ROY) life.Kabir  meets  a  London  based  film  maker  Ayesha ( Jacqueline) during  his  shoot(Of  the  film  Guns-3) and  both  of  them  fall  in  love.When  Ayesha  gets  to  know  about  Kabir's  casanova  attitude  she  breaks  up  with  him.Dejected  Kabir  goes  into  depression  and  leaves  his  film  incomplete.Kabir  looses  his  father  and  also  gets  sued  by  financiers  for  not  completing  the  film  due  to  which  he  decides  to  move  on  and  complete it.

In  a  parallel  story ,Roy (Ranbir  Kapoor)  - is a  mysterious  international  art  thief  whom  no  country  seems  to  be  able  to  get  hold  of .Roy  is  on  a  new  assignment  to  steal  a  very  valuable  painting  only  to  find  that  its  owner  is  Tia (Jacqueline).Roy  impresses  Tia  with  his  charm  and  later  steals  the  painting,leaving  Tia  heart  broken.He  later  regrets  it ,as  he  falls  in  love  with  her.He  returns  the  painting  after  a  clash  with  its  new  owner  and  Tia  realizes  that  Roy  is  a  changed  man  and  they  get  back  together.

Meanwhile,  Kabir's  film (GUNS-3) releases  and  becomes  a  huge  success  and  he  reveals  that  Roy  is  just  an  imaginary  character.In  the  end  Kabir  proposes  Ayesha  and  they  get  back  together  just  like  Roy  and  Tia  did.

REVIEW:

The  movie  has  a  weak  script  which  is  really  not  interesting.The  screenplay  is  bad   and  the  movie  is  boring.The  movie  is  certainly  not  a  heist  film.Not  a  single  robbery  is  properly  shown.Anything  on  earth  could  be  faster  than  the  pace  at  which  the  story  moves.

The  performances  on  the  other  hand  are  not  spectacular.All  of  them  do  a  decent  job. Arjun  Rampal  is  convincing  as  a  film  maker  and  Jacqueline  does  a  fine  job  too.Ranbir  kapoor  is  good.The  direction  is  not  good.The  movie  does  not  make  sense  at  times.It  appears  difficult  to  understand  the  story  with  two  parallel  stories  popping  up  one  after  the  other.The  screenplay  is  bad.The  film  is  too  boring(Set  an  alarm-  because  you  may  fall  asleep).The  only  good  thing  in  the  film  are  the  songs.The  songs  are  great  Matlabi,Tu  hai  ki  nahi  are  a  few  good  ones.

DRAWBACKS:

The  story  which  could  have  been  way  better.

The  screenplay  with  which  the  story  moves  at  snails  pace.

"Roy"  is  nothing  spectacular.You  can  surely  skip  this  one.Watch  it  if  you  have  nothing  else  to  do  this  week.
