"The Shaukeens" Movie review

Synopsis:

"The  shaukeens"  is  a  remake  of  the  movie  "shaukeen" which  was  released  in  (1982).
The  movie  is  about  three  old  men  KD (Annu  Kapoor), Lali (Anupam  Kher)  and  Pinky (Piyush  Mishra)  who  are  in  search  of  their  fantasy(women)  which  leads  them  to  Mauritius  where  they  meet   Ahana (Lisa  Haydon)  a  fashion  designer  by  profession  and  an  Akshay  Kumar  fan  at  heart.The  story  moves  on  with  these  three  men  trying  to  impress  her  by  fulfilling  her  desire  of  meeting  Akshay  Kumar  in  order  to  fulfill  their  own  fantasies.

Cast:

The  movie  stars  Annu  Kapoor, Anupam  Kher, Piyush  Mishra, Akshay  Kumar  and  Lisa  Haydon  in  the  lead.
The  veteran  actor  trio  Kher, Kapoor  and  Mishra  do  justice  to  their  roles  but  Akshay  Kumar  steals  the  show  and  brings  in  all  the  fun  expected  in  the  movie. Akshay  Kumar  plays  himself  in  the  movie  and  he  pokes  fun  at  himself. Lisa  Haydon  looks  gorgeous  but  after  her  performance  in  "Queen"  a  lot  more  is  expected.

Direction:

The  movie  has  been  directed  by  Abhishek  Sharma.The  direction  is  good  but  could  have  been  better. The  story  is  a  bit  lost  at  times  and  "the  shaukeens"  seems  to  be  a  completely  different  story  when  Akshay  Kumar  is  on  screen.
Overall  the  direction  is  good.

Music:

The  music  is  given  by  Yo  Yo  Honey  Singh, Hard  Kaur, Vikram  Nagi  and  Arko  Mukherjee.
"Meherbani", "Aashiq  Mizaaj", "Alcoholic"  and  "Manali  Trance"  are  good  tracks.The  music  is  decent.

Bits  &  Pieces:

The  story  moves slowly  in  the  first  half  but  catches  pace  after  the  character  of  Akshay  is  introduced.


"The  shaukeens" - Kher, Kapoor  and  Mishra  get  shadowed  by  Akshay's  role  in  the  movie  at  times.The  movie  does  not  get  vulgar  despite  its  theme.It  is  a  good  movie  but  could  have  been  a  better  remake.
