"BABY" Movie Review

Neeraj Pandey known for his films like Special 26 is back with another brilliant film "Baby" starring Akshay Kumar,Taapsee Pannu,Anupam Kher,Rana Daggubati,Rasheed Naz, Madhurima Tulia,Kay Kay Menon and Dany Denzongpa in the lead. The movie which was released a few days ago has received exceptional reviews from the critics as well as the audience

Story:
"BABY" is an out and out action-thriller. The film has a brilliant storyline.
"Baby" is a temporary or a trail program which checks the activities of terrorists as well as protects the people from terror attacks and it is headed by the Indian Government. "BABY" is just a trail with a term of 5 years (Hence the name). It consists of 12 members who have been successful in stopping various terror attacks and also put an end to many people behind such activities. The story revolves around the last mission of Baby. The team of Baby go behind Bilal(Kay Kay Menon) an escaped terrorist, but all of the squad members are killed in an explosion except Ajay (Akshay Kumar).Feroz (Danny) the head of "BABY" ,sends Ajay and Priya (Taapsee) to one of Maulana's (Rasheed Naz-a superior to Bilal) assets. The Baby agents kill the asset and they also find out the location of Bilal. The team now consists of Ajay and two others (Anupam Kher and Rana Daggubati) who together kill Bilal and also capture Maulana and bring him back to India. With this victory the trail Baby ends and the team is made permanent with few new members.

Review:
The movie has a brilliant storyline with hardly any flaws in it.The story is accompanied by exceptional performances from all the actors as well as an amazing background score. The story may seem a bit complicated but on screen it is a delight to watch.Akshay Kumar steals the show with a wonderful performance as an agent, his true talent can be witnessed in "Baby". Anupam Kher ,Rana Daggubati and Taapsee Pannu have done an amazing job though their characters are limited.Neeraj Pandey has directed the movie wonderfully. The story never looses pace, it keeps the audience alive with the action as well as suspense. There is this feeling of wanting to know "what might happen next" throughout the movie. The background score is excellent. There are no songs except one which comes at the end of the film.

Drawbacks:
There are no drawbacks as such. The movie stays strong throughout. The only drawback might be that it does not have other elements like comedy or romance which some people may like to watch.

"Overall BABY is an amazing movie and a treat to watch, you may not like it if you are looking for an entertainer filled with comedy and stuff, but do give it a watch and you will surely love it"

"Shamitabh" official trailer 2 impressions:

The  2nd  official  trailer  of  the  upcoming  R.Balki  film  "Shamitabh"  starring  Amitabh  Bachchan, Dhanush  and  Akshara  Haasan  was  released  a  few  days  ago  -  this  time  the  trailer  shows  glimpses  of  what  the  story  might  revolve  around. You  can  witness  Dhanush  speaking  in  Amitabh  Bachchan's  voice. From  the  trailer  it  looks  like  Dhanush  plays  the  role  of  a  movie  star  who  got  his  stardom  thanks  to  Amitab's  voice. Both  of  them  seem  to  be  mutually  dependent  on  each  other  for  their  needs. Akshara  Haasan  on  the  other  hand  plays  a  Director. The  trailer  raises  the  bar  set  by  the  previous  teaser. The  trailer  reveals  a  bit  about  the  story  as  well  as  keeps  you  wanting  to  know  more  about  it.The  film  is  set  to  releases  in  a  few  weeks  and  the  secret  behind  "SHAMITABH"   will  be  known  soon.

"Unfriended" Trailer impressions

"Unfriended"  is  a horror  thriller  directed  by  Levan  Gabriazade  and  stars  Shelley  Henning,Renee  Olstead, Will  Peltz, Jacob  Wysocki, Matthew  Bohrer  and  Heather  Sossaman  in  the  lead. The  movie  boasts  about  a  new  genre  of  horror  which  is  somewhat  cyber-natural.The  tale  is  about  six  high school  friends  who  receive  a  skype  message  from  a  classmate  who  killed  herself  exactly  a  year  ago.At  first  they  take  it  as  a  prank, but  as  the  girl  starts  revealing  their  darkest  secrets  they  realize  that  they  are  dealing  with  something  more  complicated, something  from  beyond  this  world, something  that  wants  them  dead.
Coming  to  the  trailer- The  first  thought  that  hit  me  was  "Finally  a  new  genre  can  be  witnessed  in  a  horror  film",The  trailer  gives  an  impression  that  this  movie  is  quiet  different  from  other  horror  movies. The  concept  of  someone  haunting  you  through  skype  is  kind  of  different.(Be  careful  the  next  time  you  are  using  skype - hope  you  dont  have  any  dark  secrets). The  trailer  is  great  -  I  hope  the  movie  will  be  horrifying  and   delivers  what  the  viewers  expect  from  it.The  movie  is  scheduled  to  release  on  17th  of  April,2015.

"Alone" Movie Review

Bipasha  Basu  takes  part  in  yet  another  horror  movie  "Alone" - The  movie  has  been  directed  by  Bhushan  Patel  and  stars  Bipasha  Basu  and  Karan  Singh  Grover  in  the  lead. The  movie  is  the  remake  of  a  2007  Thai  film  named  the  same (ALONE).

STORY:

Sanjana  and  Anjana  (Both  played  by  Bipasha  Basu)  are  twins  who  are  conjoint  by  birth. Both  of  them  share  a  special  bond  during  their  childhood. The  two  of  them  are  often  bullied  by  the  other  children  at  school. They  start  liking  Karan  (Karan  Singh  Grover)  who  always  protects  them  from  the  others  who  are  rude  towards  them. As  they  grow  up  Sanjana  and  Anjana  fall  in  love  with  Kabir  whereas  Kabir  only  has  feelings  towards  Sanjana - The  result  of  which  one  of  the  sister  ends  up  killing  the  other  and  they  are  seperated. The  one  alive  marries  Kabir  whereas  the  other  sister  haunts  their  life  as  a  ghost. The  story  moves  on  with  the  couple  trying  to  get  rid  of  this  impure  soul  from  their  lives  with  a  few  twists  at  the  end  of  the  story.

REVIEW:

"Alone"  does  not  mange  to  scare  you  much  keeping  in  mind  that  it  is  a  horror  flick  -  it  hardly  scares  you. You  might  get  scared  if  such  things  happened  in  real  life  but  on  screen  it  does  not  fulfill  the  viewers  expectation. The  movie  is  filled  with  scenes  like  the  ones   in  the  dark  where  someone  beautiful  like  Bipasha  Basu  turns  around  and you  see  her  as  a  ghost  or  weird  noises  being  heard. These  are  the  usual  stuff  which  you  can  see  in  most  of  the  horror  films. In  a  horror  movie  things  are  supposed  to  happen  when  you  least  expect  it  but  in  this  case  it  is  quite  predictable  most  of  the  times. The  movie  is  quite  boring  and  there  are  many  flaws  within  the  story. The  first  half  is  a  bit  dull  but  the  second  half  moves  with  a  good  pace.
Bipashu  Basu  has  acted  well  and  so  has  Karan  Singh  Grover. They  share  a  great  chemistry  on-screen.Bipashuu  does  well  as  a  ghost  too.
The  direction  is  average. There  are  many  scenes  which  have  been  shot  in  the  dark  and   you  can  witness  the  regular  things  which  usually  happen  in  horror  movies. Why  can't  there  be  horror  films  without  darkness (It  is  dark  in  the  theater  there  is  darkness  on  screen!)  or  without  the  same  things  happening  again  and  again?
The  music  has  been  composed  by  Ankit  Tiwari  and  Mithoon. The  music  is  fine  but   not  that  great.

DRAWBACKS:

The  story -  It  is  just  any  other  story  if  the  conjoint  twins  were  not  a  part  of  it.A  slight  twist  at  a  point  in  the  story  seems  to  be  the  only  good   highlight  though  a  few  may  predict  it.The  first  half  is  quite  boring. The  direction  could  have  been  better  as  the  movie  is  a  remake.

"Alone"  is  an  average  movie  and  it  does  not  scare  you  much  maybe  you  can  watch  it  ALONE  when  it  comes  on  Television  sometime  later  this  year.

"I"-(Tamil) Movie Review

Shankar  is  back  with  his  huge  commercial  flick -  "I"  starring  Vikram, Amy  Jackson,Suresh  Gopi and  Upen  Patel  in  the  lead. The  movie  has  been  produced  by  V.Ravichandran  and  Aascar  films. The  music  has  been  given  by  A.R.Rahman.The  movie  which  was  highly  anticipated  by  the  audience  has  finally  hit  the  theaters  this  Sankranthi.

STORY:

"I"  does  not  have  a  complicated  story-the  director  keeps  it  simple  but  makes  it  a  treat  to  watch  with  a  wonderful  screenplay. The  movie  revolves  around  the  story  of  Lingesan  a  body  builder  who  is  also  a  huge  fan  of  Diya (Amy  Jackson)  a  supermodel. Lingesan  who  wins  the  title  of  Mr.Tamilnadu  has  an  ambition  of  making  it  big  by  winning  the  title  of  Mr.India. Diya  on  the  other  hand  is  a  busy  model  who  seeks  the  help  of  Lingesan  for  her  upcoming  Ad-shoot  as  she  had  been  frequently  troubled  by  her  previous  co-model  John (Upen  Patel). Lingesan  gives  up  his  ambitions  for  helping  Diya  and  agrees  to  do  the  advertisement. With  this  Ad  he  leaves  a  huge  mark  in  the  advertisement  world  and  gets  many  such  offers - in  between  which  Lingesan  and  Diya  fall  in  love  with  each  other.Due  to  Lingesan's  rising  fame  and  honesty  towards  work  John  loses  his  modelling  contracts  and  a  huge  company  supplying  un-hygienic  products  goes  down.John  and  a few  others  who  have  a  grudge  against  Lingesan together  make  a  plan  to  bring  him  down  and  they  inject  a  virus  named  "Influenza"  or  the  "I"  Virus(Now  you  know  where  the  title  comes  from)  into  his  body  after  beating  him  up  badly  without  him  knowing  what  they  had  done  to  him. The  virus  causes Lingesan  to  permanently  transform  into  a  creepy  looking  man  with  a  hunchback. Lingesan  seeks  revenge  on  the  people  who  spoilt  his  dreams  and  that  is  what  the  movie  revolves  around.

REVIEW:

A  lot  had  been  expected  from  the  movie  as  soon  as  the  trailer  was  launched  but  the  movie  does  not  keep  up  to  the  viewers  expectations.."I"  has  a  wonderful  concept  a  simple  story  which  has  been  depicted  well  on  screen. The  movie  has  great  visuals , action, makeup  and  fine  acting  but  a  huge  drawback  is  that  such  a  simple  story  has  been  dragged  to  a  length  of  three  hours  with  a  lot  of  predictable  scenes  in  the  story - line.
Vikram  gives  an  outstanding  performance  with  his  fine  acting  as  well  as  his  multiple  looks.(a  bodybuilder,a  model.a  beast  and  a  hunchback). His  acting  and  a  decent  screenplay  is  what  holds  the  whole  movie  from  falling  apart , not  many  of  them  would  have  experimented  with  such  a  role.Amy  Jackson  looks  beautiful  every time  she  appears  on  screen  and  has  acted  well. Upen  Patel  has  done  a  decent  job  but  he  could  have  done  better.
Shankar  has  directed  the  movie  well  keeping  in  mind  that  the  story  is  simple. He  has  done  a  good  job   which  can  be  seen  on-screen.The  visual  effects, song  and  action  sequences  are  great  to  watch.
The  music  has  been  composed  by  A.R.Rahman  and  there  are  many  nice  songs  in  the  movie(Though  i  don't  understand  tamil  much).
The  first  half  of  the  movie  is  good  but  the  story  moves  at  snails  pace  in  this  half   whereas  the  second  half  turns  out  to  be  great.

DRAWBACKS:

The  main  drawback  of  the  movie  is  the  length.Such  a  simple  story  has  been  dragged  for  a  long  time  making  the  viewers  to  get  bored  a  bit  but  the  visuals  and  performances  keep  the  viewers  alive. The  movie  could  have  been  cut  short  by  a  few  minutes,
The  next  thing  is  the  story-The  concept  of  the  story  is  good  but  the  story  could  have  been  slightly  better.

"I"  is  quite  good  even  though   it  has  minor  drawbacks. Outstanding  performances, visual  effects ,action  and  much  more  is  packed  in  the  movie  and  "I" is  surely  a  movie   to  watch  this  weekend.

Rating:  Three!!!?  Illa  addhaku  melle (Pun  intended) 3.5 / 5
